![]() ![]() The hardest thing to texture in my scene was the magpie because of how specific it needed to be and the number of joins within the UV map. I’m proud of how far I’d come with this area particularly, and how some of the things made seemed so realistic. ![]() I think my modeling significantly improved towards the end, with the owl being the first thing I modeled and taking several weeks to redo it and recreating it, to creating multiple models in one day to a good standard, such as the objects in the nest. For example using NURBS to create the nest, and how this really slowed down rendering time, and all the alternative ways to fix meshes and how they work. I managed to explore different ways in how to create things and the benefits and drawbacks of these. I think that creating so many different things to put into my scene really helped with this. Now I think model making is one of the most fun aspects of the journey of 3D animation. In the beginning, I struggled with modeling, particularly the concept of the extrude tool for some reason, but as I created more and more for my scene after creating my owl, I understood more and more and managed to increase my speed in model making. I like that it wasn’t straight forward and clear and that it’s creative. The objects represent humans and the areas in which they’re in are another representation of lifestyle. The idea behind my animation isn’t something you’d neccecarily get from the animation, but I also think this is expected as I’d researched traditional artists and designers, meaning my animation was more about the deeper meaning shown through the art. ![]() I felt that this was an interesting and useful way to get a more interesting outcome from an already broad topic, Heterotopia. The majority of my story came from my philosophical research on Epicurus. The significant object, however, brought a more interesting side to the story and drove the project in a direction more than if I hadn’t had that. I didn’t know that my significant object would be included in the animation or what was expected in terms of animation in the beginning, so I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with the heterotopia project. I didn’t have a clear direction of my story initially, so it evolved over time with a similar basis. ![]()
